Additional Notes
I have decided to archive and restore GameMakr24's website for Zelda Challenge: Outlands and Zelda 3 Challenge: Quest for Calatia. I took this opportunity when the domain became available in the middle of 2024. I did this for two main reasons:
- First, this project site had brought me such joy over the years. Even if Quest for Calatia never came out, I have had fond memories of tracking its progress as well as participating (or lurking) on the Mirai Gamer Forums to see the community around it.
- The other reason is fear that it would have become just another parked domain with those sketchy search bars. You know the kind. I could not bear seeing that happen to GM24's site.
If you spot anything wrong with or missing from this site, or if you just want to provide general feedback, then please email me at
caretaker@questforcalatia.net.
I know I won't be able to preserve this site forever, but I want to keep it around for as long as possible,
even if not a single soul comes back to visit.
As it turns out, some souls
have come back to visit!
Andwhyisit from the old Mirai Gamer forums emailed to let me know that after those forums shut down, he restored most of the content on the Cave Story forums,
found here.
I am also pleased to say that Mike Pouch, composer of Quest for Calatia, reached out to me and shared some music tracks he had created for the game. He also had this to share:
A recent development is that I've released some of the music I composed for the game, and provided the rest to a rom hacker / rom music hacker, Letterbomb, who has been making improved versions and proper renditions of the midis I never got around to programming in Hyrule Magic.
Here are the tracks he shared with me:
And here are the tracks reworked by Letterbomb:
I have also received a few other emails from various people expressing delight in seeing this site restored, and that makes me really happy to see. Thank you all!
